About Me
I’m a middle school teacher and a writer. I write whatever inspires me, from journaling to memoir to realistic young adult fiction. I get excited about sports stories, contemporary American fiction, girl heroes, and everything in between.  I played field hockey in college in Massachusetts where I grew up, but I’m proud to call myself an Austin transplant.  I coach and play competitive Ultimate, sing (a little), and do everything I can to be a kid in a grown-up’s body.
I haven’t published any of my writing (yet), but I hope that one day you’ll find my work on bookstores’ virtual and literal shelves.
Now that the boring stuff is out of the way, here are a few Fun Facts about me:
- People have recently compared me to the character of Monica on Friends. Compliment? Insult? I’m not sure, but definitely accurate.
- I used to be a really fast sprinter, but I lost some speed after tearing my ACL and getting reconstructive surgery on my knee in 2004.
- I start buying Christmas decorations in October.
- My brother and I accidentally killed a hamster when we were really little. The guilt still haunts me.
- My first car was a 1988 Chevy Nova. I named her “Reno.”
- I wrote my first novel in 5th grade, and I still remember what I called it. Â But no, I’m not telling.
- I’m still close to four of my friends (Will, Sarah, Claire and David) from pre-school.
- Nothing pumps me up for a game or a workout like showtunes.
- I collect sports movies. I don’t have a favorite, but I think the first one that I remember seeing is The Natural.
- I make lists for everything.
